Disconnected

A Series

Disconnected is an exploration in the human experience of familial disconnection. In a world that is unfamiliar with faces that we don’t know as we flip through the old family photo albums. This work reflects on the fragile threads that tie us to memory and identity. Created through darkroom printing techniques and collage using fragments from my family’s archives, hand-written letters, and antique postcard remnants. A photo album that I hand crafted and curated through my own imagery, and from the family archive. This series examines how time distorts connection, how the familiar becomes foreign, and how nostalgia for something we’ve never experienced can both comfort and alienate. Losing a loved one brings a feeling of grief that cuts deep. I believe it’s possible to also feel grief for those we’ve never met. A longing born from the echoes of shared history and imagined connection through the stories passed down.
